1. Matching payments by hand
Every M-Pesa message checked by hand costs time and invites mistakes. Use a billing system that matches payments automatically.
2. No way to pay after expiry
Customers with no data cannot reach a website. Without a payment page that opens by itself, some never come back.
3. Shared PPPoE logins
One login in several homes means one payment for several customers. Use device limits and MAC binding.
4. Accounts stored on routers
When a router fails, its accounts can go with it. Keep accounts in central RADIUS.
5. Forgetting dormant customers
Customers who stopped paying are often recoverable. Keep them in a list and follow up.
6. Paying more as you grow
Per-customer pricing raises your bill with every home you connect. Per-router pricing does not.
7. No audit trail
Without a record of who changed what, mistakes and misuse are hard to find. An audit log of every action protects your business.
