Billing systems usually charge in one of two ways: for every customer, or for every router. The difference looks small at the start and very large a year later.
Per-customer pricing
You pay a fee for every active customer, every month. Each home you connect raises your bill, so your costs grow exactly as fast as your business.
Per-router pricing
You pay for each router linked to the system, however many customers it serves. Purple Router Standard is KES 1,000 per router a month with unlimited PPPoE customers on every router.
Worked example
Take a per-customer price of KES 25 a month (a simple figure for illustration) and about 500 customers per router:
- 500 customers: KES 12,500 a month per customer, against KES 1,000 per router.
- 1,000 customers: KES 25,000 a month per customer, against KES 2,000 per router.
- 5,000 customers: KES 125,000 a month per customer, against KES 10,000 per router.
