When PPPoE accounts live on each router, a customer can only connect where their account was created. With a central RADIUS, you decide where each customer is allowed to connect.
Three roaming options
- No roaming: the customer is limited to one router.
- Same station: they can use any router under their station, such as all routers at your Kilimani site.
- Everywhere: they can connect on any router on your network, even in another city.
Set it per customer or in the plan
In Purple Router, roaming can be set on a plan, so every customer on that plan follows the same rule, or per customer when you need an exception.
Why it helps
- Customers who move between your sites stay connected with the same login.
- When a router fails, its customers can log in through another router.
- Locking customers to a router or station stops logins being used where they should not be.
How the check works
When a customer connects, the router asks Purple Router RADIUS. RADIUS checks the account, plan and roaming rule, and accepts or refuses the login on that router.
